Frequently asked questions
Is this an employment position?+
No. Every opportunity offered through Pacific Crest DNA Services is on an independent contractor (1099) basis. Submitting an application does not create an employment relationship.
How much work will I receive?+
There is no guaranteed volume of work. Assignment frequency depends on your location, your availability, and case demand in your area.
How is compensation determined?+
Compensation is set per assignment and confirmed with you before you accept the collection. It reflects the collection type, location, and travel involved.
Do I need DNA collection experience?+
No. A minimum of 3 years of documented professional venipuncture and/or specimen collection experience is required; 5+ years is preferred. DNA-specific experience is helpful but not required. We provide procedure documentation for the collections you accept.

We are recruiting in the Portland metro and Vancouver area first, then Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue, with Salem and Eugene next. Applications from other Oregon and Washington areas are welcome ahead of planned coverage.
Do I choose which assignments I accept?+
Yes. Each request is offered to you, and you decide whether to accept it. Declining an assignment does not affect your standing in the network.
What happens after I apply?+
A coordinator reviews your application and credentials. If your background and service area fit current or anticipated needs, we contact you to talk through the network and next steps.
